Congratulations to the following companies for their outstanding support of United Way.
Chairman’s Award of Excellence – Kellogg’s
For holding the most outstanding campaign of the year. Historically this company has run a wonderful campaign and has shown steady increases through exceptional leadership from their management and team. They have gone from a company raising $41,000 a year to over $77,000 in just 3 years. This company increased their overall giving by 12% this year alone. They increased both their average gift and per capita giving and achieved an amazing 95% participation.
Spirit Award – AlaTrade Foods
For truly embodying the “spirit” of United Way and running a campaign that is much more than fundraising. They have a collective “team spirit” for United Way, and seek ways to make a difference throughout the year. With the help of its Plant Action Committee’s leadership and inspiration this company pledged over $7800 in its first-ever campaign.
Rising Star Award – Regions Financial Corp.
For displaying exceptional potential. Their determination and inspiration showed that they truly are a Rising Star. This year, Regions increased their overall giving by 200%. They had strong leadership giving participation and their average gift increased by well over 250%.
Milestone Achievement Award – TSYS
For reaching a significant milestone in their workplace campaign. Their campaign began with a focus on politics at the kickoff – which attracted hundreds, including Senator McCain and Senator Obama impersonators. Candidates had different opinions about issues, but agreed on one thing: United Way is critical to our community. The enthusiasm and creativity that began at the kickoff, lasted throughout the campaign. The company campaign cabinet held more than 40 divisional meetings featuring United Way partner agency speakers. Nearly as many fundraisers and special events were held – I understand that Scott Ferguson tried more than 20 types of chili in less than 24 hours. At the kickoff, the CEO said "We are a huge part of United Way. We always play the game and we play it hard,” and at the celebration he told the team members “You guys amaze me” – those statements were never truer than this year. They set a goal of $850,000 and they raised over $1,000,000.
